Woodvale Avenue runs from South Norwood Hill in a east-north-easterly direction to the entrance to Norwood Lake Park at the south-western corner of the lake. Between South Norwood Hill and Auckland Road, it forms the northern boundary of the so-called Norhyrst Estate, which was built in the late 1920s-early 1930s. The section from Auckland Road bordering Norwood Lake Park has a terrace of townhouses on the southern side only, looking out over the cricket square.
