Sylvan Road is a quiet residential road. It is close to Church Road and Anerley Hill, with Crystal Palace Railway Station being 10-15 minutes walk. It is served by the 410 bus route. The main features on Sylvan Road are the Sylvan estate, a private estate built in the late 1960s and the Harris City Technology College (main entrance on Maberley Road). Another building of note is the large 19th Century St. John the Evangelist Church (Church of England). It was completed in 1886 and is on the corner of Sylvan Road and Auckland Road. There is an entrance to the South Norwood Lake and Grounds at the bottom (East) end of Sylvan Road.
