Stambourne Way meanders its way up the hillside from Auckland Road to Church Road. It takes its name from a mid-Victorian house which stood near the bottom. The house had very large grounds, and some fine trees survive from them.
In the late 1950s to early 1960s, Stambourne Way was laid out and developed by Wates. Most of the properties are three or four-bed townhouses, with a few semis. There are some superb views from the top of the road.
The gardens are some of the best kept in the local area, and to the east the trees of Stambourne Woods give the road an almost rural appearance.
