[edit] Who can edit?

To be able to edit a page you must be registered and logged in. Your account must also have access privileges enabled for editing. Some special pages have restricted access.

[edit] How do I edit a page?

Click the "edit" tab located at the top of the page. Make your changes to the existing text or enter some new details then click on the "Show preview" button. Check the preview! When you are sure everything is okay click on the "Save page" button. If not, make a change and click the "Show preview" button again.

[edit] How do I edit just one section of a page?

Click on one of the edit links shown to the right of a heading.

[edit] What happens to the previous version?

All versions of the page are kept in the database and only the most recent version is displayed when the page is visited. This is why you should check your edits carefully using the "Show preview" button.

[edit] What happens if I make a mistake?

 1. If it is a minor error such as a spelling mistake or something very basic please edit the page and click on the "This is a minor edit" check box next to the "Save page" button.
 2. If the change is substantial and you think you can fix it yourself please edit the page again and make a note of the reason for your additional edit in the "Summary" box next to the "Save page" button.
 3. If you don't think you can fix it yourself please contact a member of the moderating team and we will revert the page back to the previous version.

[edit] How do I enter links to other pages?

A link is just the name of the page surrounded by double square brackets ( and ). It's also possible to make the link display text that is different from that of the link itself:

 • page name - e.g. Gipsy Hill will display as Gipsy Hill
 • page names - the suffix will display as part of the link, e.g. Local Maps will display as Local Maps.
 • display name - advanced users can use the piped link format to hide the name of the destination page and show different text as the display name, e.g. Lambeth will display as Lambeth.

[edit] How do I enter other formatting?

You can use the toolbar above the edit box for shortcuts to the most commonly used formatting instructions such as bold, italic, page links, external links and headings. For a more comprehensive guide see our help page for Wiki Markup or click on the edit button for an existing page and see how the page has been written.
