Winter arrives in Furneaux Avenue, February 2007
Furneaux Avenue backs onto
Knights Hill Recreation Ground on one side. All of the houses are the same build (approx early 1930's according to some neighbours who have lived here since then!) and are made up of Semi-detached and Masionettes. The street is part of the
Tivoli Road estate and the houses are a mix of Private and Council owned properties. The road itself is wide with lovely trees on both sides and the large front gardens give a nice feeling of space. The lucky residents also have larger than average gardens and the local wildlife is flourishing, even if it is mostly foxes and squirrels... The area is reasonably quiet (apart from the odd boy-racer and barky dog) and a nice place to live.
If anyone has wondered about the odd shapes in the colouring of the roof-tiles on several of the houses, reliable sources has confirmed this to be the result of a rather large bomb on the corner of Holderness Way during the last war.
