Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens by Bill Russell and Janet Hood

Elegies is a collection of songs and monologues inspired by the AIDS memorial quilt - a memorial to the lives of people who have died of AIDS-related causes. Surprisingly the show is fun and serves as a celebration of the lives of people affected. The subject matter is dark and moving at times, but overall is presented with humour and joy.

Inheritance by Hannie Rayson

Hannie Rayson’s brilliant drama takes issues of Australian identity and plays them through the personal tensions of a family. Inheritance explores the impact of decisions made in the name of blood ties. The family is divided by liberal political views and entrenched racism. Whilst some of the family have built lives away from the home, others have suffered the diminishing returns of working the land.

King Lear of Britain decides to retire and divide his kingdom between his three daughters, giving the better land to the daughter who claims to love him the most. Goneril and Regan, both flatter him and are rewarded. Cordelia, Lear's youngest and favourite daughter, refuses to say anymore than that she loves him as much as a daughter should. Lear becomes enraged and disowns her, splitting her share of the kingdom between his two older daughters.
