The churchyard of All Saints Church at the top of Church Road, near the junction with Beulah Hill/South Norwood Hill, contains the grave of Admiral Robert Fitzroy. Admiral Fitzroy is noted for having charted the shipping areas (one of which was renamed after him). He also sailed with Charles Darwin on the Beagle. Admiral Fitzroy lived in a house in Church Road which is marked with a blue plaque.
