The Mayfair of Norwood. What more is there to say?
Quite a bit actually. Walking down from the Triangle, one passes a row of almshouses from about the 1830s on the left hand side. Then further down on the right is a Victorian folly tucked away in a back garden. About half way down are the two houses which give the road its name. And then one comes to a charming little green, with some fine old holm oaks.
Further down the road across Hamlet Road, the road becomes a bit decrepit but this is reflected in the price of properties. One unfortunately regular occurence is gangs of kids rushing down the top of the road from the Central Hill and/or any estate further down, through towards Croydon. Thankfully they are quick to storm through and are more of an amusing sight than an annoyance.
It is probably the most lovely road in the area. Mature trees, generous gardens and numerous fine examples of middle class housing from the 1820s to 1850s. And some fantastic views from the top of the road looking out towards Kent.
